Building technicians support engineers, surveyors and architects on construction projects.
You could take a foundation degree or higher national diploma in: construction, the built environment, surveying or civil engineering. You'll usually need 1 or 2 A-Levels, or equivalent, for a foundation degree or higher national diploma.
You may need 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, for a Level 3 course or a T Level.

With experience you could move into construction project management or specialise in estimating, CAD drafting or buying. You could find work with national and international building firms and contractors, central and local government, and organisations that do their own construction work, like utility companies, major retailers and the NHS.
Cavity insulation installers fit insulation, soundproofing materials and cladding in buildings.
Mechanical engineering technicians design, install and repair industrial plant machinery and parts.
Facilities managers oversee the operation and maintenance of building systems and services.
Architectural technologists manage all stages of the technical design and planning process of building projects.
Gardeners grow plants and look after them in private and public green spaces.
Roofers re-slate and tile roofs, fit skylight windows and replace lead sheeting and cladding.
We have a fantastic opportunity to start a career in engineering in the construction industry as part of the IDH team. This is an apprenticeship role where you will gain a recognised Level 3 qualification and learn the key skills required to become a design engineer.

During your apprenticeship we will provide you with the opportunity to train in all aspects of the role.Working at Heights. Workplace Health & Safety. Working with and preparation of different work surfaces. Painting by means of variety of tools and techniques, wallpapering, safe use of decorating materials. Tools & Equipment. You will attend college on a day release.
