Description
To train and develop as an Apprentice Heating Engineer by
attending the required training to gain the appropriate
qualifications whilst gaining on the job skills and experience with
Saffron.
Key Responsibilities
• To undertake and complete the Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Technician
Apprenticeship
• Working with the Heating team to learn on the job knowledge and skills to become a
fully-fledged Heating Engineer by:
o Carrying out basic tasks to assist the engineers in the daily workload
o Gaining the appropriate skills and knowledge to undertake more complex
tasks with guidance from the engineers
o Supporting all aspects of appliance servicing and breakdown work streams
within Saffron
• Work within the Health and Safety parameters set by Saffron
• To attend training as required, and to successfully complete all subsequent work on time and to the required standard as set by the training provider

JTL Entry Assessment requirements.
GCSE English & Maths Grade 5 / C or above desirable.
As part of the JTL Plumbing and Domestic Heating
Technician apprenticeship, you'll be in full time employment with a local
company receiving a decent wage from day one. You'll spend time
learning your trade by gaining hands-on experience working on-site with your
employer, as well as attending a JTL approved college or training centre to
learn the theoretical knowledge you will need.
You will be working towards a level 3 apprenticeship. The
apprenticeship comprises the following qualifications:

City & Guilds or BPEC Level 3
Plumbing and Domestic Heating Qualification
•
Industry certifications specific
to fuel type
•
Functional skills may be required
to be undertaken at the following levels if you do not have equivalent
qualifications (such as GCSEs) at time of starting the apprenticeship: Level 2
English and Level 2 Maths
Once you have successfully completed the training and
qualifications, JTL and your employer will decide when you are ready to take
the End Point Assessment (EPA). The EPA
for this apprenticeship consists of a multiple-choice test, a design project, a
practical installation test, a practical application test and a professional
discussion.

The work is quite complex. You need to
be reasonably physically fit, have good practical aptitude and be willing to
learn.

The advertised apprentice wage will increase yearly or upon completion of progressive stages. After initially qualifying, you could go on to supervisory roles, senior management positions or even running your own business.
• Must be comfortable working within confined areas e.g. roof spaces, which are subject to fluctuating temperatures during the year
• Ability to use a mobile device (mobile phone/tablet) to send and receive emails, access apps and MS Teams for meetings / training
• Good level of general education including GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grade 5 / C or above, although a positive attitude and a willingness to work toward equivalent qualifications is equally important
Saffron offer Pension Scheeme and Private Healthcare Scheme. The post is subject to DBS Checks. Wages increase with age of apprentice.
