Illustrators produce drawings, paintings or diagrams for use in products like books and greetings cards, or on packaging.
You'll need a higher national diploma or degree in illustration or a related subject like fine art or graphic design. You'll usually need between 1 and 3 A-Levels, or equivalent, for a higher national diploma or degree.
You'll also need a portfolio of your work to show prospective clients or for entry onto courses. Building a website or starting a blog where you can showcase your work is one way to get noticed. Having a presence on social media sites like Instagram is a great way of connecting with the public and potential customers.
If you work as a freelance illustrator you may decide to sell your work through an agent, who could put you in touch with more buyers. An agent will take a percentage of your sales as commission. The Society of Artists Agents has details of agents as well as examples of artists' work.

With experience and graphic design skills you could work for a design agency, publishing company or magazine. You could also move into specialist work, for example architectural or archaeological illustration.
Stage managers make sure the sets, equipment and props are ready for the opening of a performance.
Taxidermists preserve mammals, birds, reptiles and fish for display in museums or private collections.
Conservators preserve and restore historical objects, artworks and buildings.
Ceramics designer-makers design and create products made from clay.
Advertising account planners develop and plan advertising campaigns to make sure they reach the right audience.
Video editors bring together images and sound for use in film, TV and online productions.

Candidates will undertake four-weeks of employability workshops with Catch22, learning about the tech industry and employability skills, whilst networking and engaging in projects with other participants. During the workshops, participants attend a session run by Microsoft employees, where they will have the opportunity to ask them questions and hear about their careers so far.Following the four-week workshops, candidates will work with a tech-industry-specialist Career Coach to tailor their CVs, cover letters and interview skills, finding and applying for jobsapprenticeships within tech. Once participants are in employment, we offer in-work support for 6-months.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: -Not in work or education-Between 18-30-Interested in techcomputer literate-Access to a computer or laptop to join the sessions
