Tractor drivers operate farm machinery used to plough fields, plant seeds, and spray and harvest crops.
You could do a Level 2 Award in Tractor Driving and Related Occupations course at an agricultural college. You could also do a Level 2 Award in Safe Working in Agriculture and Production Horticulture.

You can take further training to operate a wider range of machinery, which will increase your job prospects. There are opportunities to work as a tractor driver in other sectors, for example construction or in local government working in the maintenance of outdoor spaces. With experience, you could become a supervisor, an agricultural contractor, machinery engineer or farm manager.
Garden nursery assistants grow plants in nurseries and garden centres, and advise and serve customers.
Environmental consultants advise on sustainability, including waste management, recycling, flood risk and the effects of climate change.
Horticultural workers grow and sell plants in garden centres, and tend to plants in parks and gardens.
Car valets clean the inside and outside of motor vehicles.
Bus and coach drivers transport passengers on local, national or overseas journeys.
A horticultural manager grows plants commercially for use in parks, gardens and public spaces.
