Description
• Observing,
learning and understanding a wide range of engineering skills and techniques
while under the supervision and instruction of our skilled engineering team.
• Learning
the importance of Health and Safety and working responsibly within controlled
environments.

instructions with great attention to detail and care, as you learn new skills,
demonstrating that you can perform complex tasks with a high degree of

Maintaining a smart appearance and always acting in a professional manner.
• Working to
support your engineering team by completing all tasks allocated to you,
including maintaining good housekeeping of the workplace, tooling and
facilities.
• Completing
all training tasks allocated during your day release at College and gathering any site evidence
needed to supplement your studies.
• Coordinate with your
engineering team and plan your journeys to and from site to ensure that you are
always on time and well prepared for the task at hand with all required PPE.

Knowledge and skills are important and the training is demanding. Key technician skills include Working Safely, Core Systems Techniques, System Technologies, Supervisory considerations.
The Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician will:
· Operate in a safe working manner by adhering to health and safety legislation, codes of practice and applying safe working practices
· Contribute to the application of design, planning, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, fault diagnosis, service and repair and electrical and electronic techniques on fire, emergency and security systems.
· Operate a range of ICT equipment and systems to store, retrieve, manipulate, transmit or receive digital data and electronic information in applications and environments applicable to the role.
· Take responsibility for own work and safety and welfare of others. Oversee and organise the programme of work and work environment. Carry out work and manage resources in an environmentally friendly manner.
All candidates must complete the JTL Entry Assessment
The JTL Fire, Emergency and Security Systems apprenticeship is an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3 lasting approximately three years. As a JTL apprentice you'll be in full time employment with a local company receiving a good wage from day one. You'll spend time learning your trade by gaining hands-on-experience working on-site with your employer, as well as undertaking online assessments and attending a JTL approved college or training centre to learn the theoretical knowledge you will need.
For the Advanced Apprenticeship, the standard reflects a higher level of competence and knowledge. For Fire, Emergency & Security Technicians, the competence and knowledge elements are combined in a level 3 Qualification.
Other qualifications and elements covered include
Level 2 skills in Mathematics and English

By the end of this apprenticeship the candidate will have satisfied the requirements for registration as EngTech by the Engineering Council.
The advertised Apprentice wage will increase yearly or upon completion of progressive stages. After initially qualifying, you could go on to supervisory roles, senior management positions or even running your own business.
