Dog groomers keep dogs' coats in good condition, and give their owners advice on coat care, grooming and diet.
You could take a course in dog grooming like a Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants, a Level 3 Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming or a Level 3 Diploma for Dog Grooming. These are offered by colleges and private training centres.
You'll usually need 2 or more GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D), or equivalent, for a Level 2 course. For a Level 3 course you'll need 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or the equivalent.
Employers will set their own entry requirements.

With experience and qualifications, you could become self-employed and work from home or become a mobile dog groomer, visiting owners' homes. You could also open your own salon or move into training.
Veterinary nurses support vets by caring for sick and injured animals.
Zookeepers look after animals in zoos, safari parks and aquariums.
Dog handlers work with specially trained dogs to help detect and prevent crime, find lost or missing people and protect property.
Farriers make and fit horseshoes, and care for horses' hooves.
Riding centre managers plan and run the centre's activities, manage staff and develop the business.
Pet shop assistants serve customers and look after animals in pet shops.
