Hello, I Am Bethany

To anyone thinking of applying for an apprenticeship, just go for it! Think to yourself, what’s the worst thing that could go wrong?

Tell us more about your experience

I haven’t started working in my job role yet as my apprenticeship is slightly different from other schemes. I have 7 weeks of intense training before I start in my agency! This has been so beneficial for me – I’ve learnt so much about my industry and how my company works in terms of the different systems set in place.

After completing my A-Levels at college, I didn’t have much knowledge of the Marketing sector, so this training has helped me so much and has given me such a boost of confidence for when I started in my role. Throughout my training period, I’ve spent my time focusing on the key aspects of social media as this will be my job role. I am even taking my Facebook qualification soon! I’ll be starting my role in the first week of October and I’m so excited to keep sharing my journey!

“I knew from a young age that the traditional university route wasn’t for me.”

I didn’t like the idea of studying full-time while getting into loads of debt too, so this was my main reason for wanting to do an apprenticeship. I’ve always been eager to begin working in the corporate world. In my opinion, apprenticeships are so underrated by young people and there are lots of misconceptions about them – they’re an excellent alternative to university!

I’ve also always loved working and I have had loads of part-time jobs since I was 16. I really enjoyed gaining the new skills that came with having a job. With an apprenticeship, you have so many opportunities to learn, and you can then apply this knowledge straight into a real-life scenario a work. This was great for me as I’m a visual learner. As well as this, you can really get a head start in your career as apprentices have endless opportunities at work!

“Generally, young people think university is their only option after college when it really isn’t!”

This time last year when I was studying for my A-Levels, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the Business and Marketing sector but wasn’t sure as to which specific area. To anyone thinking of applying for an apprenticeship, just go for it! Think to yourself, what’s the worst thing that could go wrong? I made sure to do loads of research about the company and job role to decide if I was interested in the position. Another tip would be to not follow the norm. Generally, young people think university is their only option after college when it really isn’t! Just take your time and give yourself the best shot!

I have received so much support from my apprenticeship provider – I can’t believe how much they are willing to help! I attend monthly one-to-one coaching sessions to discuss any areas I might be struggling with and need a bit more assistance with. I know I can go to them whenever I feel like I need it. The team of coaches are so welcoming, and they ensure my well-being is looked after too.
