Animal technicians look after animals in research laboratories.
You could do a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in animal care, animal studies, applied science or animal management in order to get a career as an Animal Technician. You may need 2 or more GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D) for a Level 2 course and 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or the equivalent, for a Level 3 course.

With experience and training, you could become an animal technologist, animal welfare officer, unit supervisor or manager. You could also specialise in breeding, immunology or training.
RSPCA inspectors investigate complaints about animal cruelty, rescue animals and give advice to animal owners.
Education technicians support science, art, IT or design and technology teachers by preparing equipment and materials for practical lessons.
Vets diagnose and treat sick or injured animals.
Ecologists study the relationship between plants, animals and the environment.
Assistance dog trainers and instructors train dogs that help people to maintain their independence.
Agricultural contractors provide specialised, seasonal or temporary services to farmers.
