Hello, I Am Amy

The people you meet and the networking opportunities that come from doing an apprenticeship are amazing and gives you such a great chance to connect with people in your chosen industry!

Tell us more about your experience

On a day-to-day basis I work with the Growth Team to support the delivery of digital marketing campaigns such as email, IAM (in-app messages) and app notifications. I also create reports to help my team understand the impact of these campaigns as well as their performance. As well as this, I manage regular updates to any existing Product marketing campaigns to ensure that content, imagery and copy is up-to-date and aligned with the content schedule and wider business priorities. Part of my role is to also create regular competitor reviews to identify trends in the digital marketing space.

I have really enjoyed working on the email campaigns in relation to Walter Presents - which is Channel 4's foreign language drama service. I really enjoy the editorial and creative decisions that comes with this. My proudest moment with Channel 4 is when I deployed my first ever email campaign!

I decided to do an apprenticeship after doing more research into my different options after College - I wanted to have a more hands-on experience working in the media industry and gain job skills that I can use across my professional development.

"My advice to someone thinking about doing an apprenticeship would be to go for it! It's definitely the best decision I have made and it is such an achievement."

When I first started to apply for apprenticeships, some people questioned why I didn't want to go to University as it seemed like the 'natural' route that everyone at my college took. I believe there is still a lot of stigma around apprenticeships and they are not discussed enough in educational settings. The best thing you can do is research - whether that be able the sector you're interested in or the specific company you would like to work for, and persevere with applications like I did!

In terms of support, Channel 4 is a fantastic place to work, the company culture is great and there is always support on hand, whether that be personally or professionally. I am part of a wellbeing group who run regular 'Wellbeing sessions' which are a chance to check in and take a break.

Additionally my training provider, Multiverse, are great advocated for mental wellbeing and run sessions relating to personal development and support. For example, I recently participated in a workshop about how to separate work life and personal life when working from home.

At the end of my apprenticeship I see myself having a good understanding of the broadcast industry and working in a full-time role in Digital Marketing. I have regular catch ups with my team and my manager where we discuss what I would like to achieve at the end of my apprenticeship.
